What made your choose a career in Personal Fitness Training?

I hired a certified personal trainer to assist me in weight loss. I succeeded, got in great shape and even improved my athletic performance as a professional athlete. I decided I wanted to help others reach their athletic and physical and personal goals and get paid to do so. A client that pays appreciates your help and values the time you spent with them.

What made your chose the IFPA?

I wanted a certification for personal training from a reputable company. IFPA allowed me to work at the top fitness companies and corporations.

If you have taken more than our PFT course, what has been your favorite certification?

Currently Tai-Chi. However, I am currently taking sports medicine and that course will most likely become my favorite!

How long have you been a Personal Trainer?

Since 1978

What aspects of personal fitness training do you like most?

Teaching proper movement and reps, especially in regards to weight training. It still amazes me when I see individuals doing some crazy ass movement that is not only incorrect, but could cause major injury. Get a trainer if you don’t know what to do and never listen to someone on the fitness floor, no matter how pretty or muscle bound they look. Go to the experts and individuals that are certified.

What qualities set you apart from other personal trainers? Education? Experience?

I would suspect that my proven track record speaks for itself. I know what it takes to lose weight, recover from injuries, get in shape, or be the top of your game in a particular athletic sport. I have trained myself to accomplish the following:

  • Lost weight, got in shape
  • Won Ms Central Valley, Mixed Pairs and Ms Southern California Bodybuilding Competition (drug tested), 1990
  • One of the Top Women Marathon Runners in the nation from 1976-1984
  • World Champion, World Record Holder Powerlifting (S Federations) over 40 world titles
  • Pro Mini Golf US Open, 4th pkace
  • 4th Degree Black Belt, Master W.T.F., Kukkiwon

What is your best success story?

I trained a woman to lose weight and get in better shape. She also had the goal of being able to walk a mile and breathe better. She did all of the above and the greatest moment was when I received a call from her, that she was getting married and could finally fit into a wedding dress she loved.

How do you envision growing your personal training business?

My goal is to open my own fitness facility. I will combine Olympic Taekwondo and Personal Training for adults.

What is your best advice to someone just starting their career as a personal trainer?

If possible, go to college. Take IFPA Courses and Seminars. Go to the best in the field and get advice on training. If they take you under their wing, bless them. You’ll be grateful for years to come.
