What made you choose a career in personal fitness training?
Exercise has always been my passion. Being a Personal trainer has allowed me to do what I Love and help as many people as I can!
How long have you been a Personal Trainer?
What made you choose the IFPA?
The IFPA came highly recommended by most people I knew in the industry. They offer a wide variety of certifications that interested me and fit my budget.
If you have taken more than the PFT course, what has been your favorite certification course?
I have taken many courses over the years and my favorite certification was the Advanced Personal Training course.
What are some adjectives your clients would use to describe you?
My clients have described me as; supportive, encouraging, positive, dedicated, knowledgeable, determined, informative, passionate, honest, caring, adaptable, educational, innovative, relentless, non judgmental, inspirational, authentic, and an overall kick a** trainer!
What qualities set you apart from other personal trainers? Education? Experience?
I have over 25 years experience working with all ages from 9-86. I believe everyone is unique, therefore, I custom design each one of their programs to fit their individual needs. IFPA has allowed me to continue my education to help many.
What aspect of personal fitness training do you like most?
The personal relationships you develop with your clients while watching them reach their goals!
What is your best success story?
I was given the opportunity to personal train my daughter; that led us to compete together in a bodybuilding/ fitness competition last year!
I began competing in 1999, competing in 15 bodybuilding/fitness shows. Since then, I have unintentionally passed over my passion for fitness to my daughter. This is my best success story!
How has the PFT business changed since you started?
I feel a PFT is more of a necessity, rather than a luxury, like it was years ago. People are now busier and live more of a sedentary lifestyle. They need accountability, motivation, and guidance from a personal trainer.
How do you envision growing your personal training business?
Over the years, I have grown my business by word of mouth. Recently, I have extended my market search by incorporating social media.
What was the hardest challenge you had to overcome in your personal training career?
Building my clientele and accepting that clients come and go.
What is your best advice to someone just starting their career as a personal trainer?
You must be passionate about this industry. Live by the quotes; ‘practice what you preach’, and ‘believe in what you are teaching’. Understand how important being a personal trainer can be for helping others achieve lifelong goals for their health and wellness. Your clients need and trust you!
