Lentils

Ingredients:
- 1tbp olive oil
- 1 red onion, diced
- 1lb meat (ground beef, ground turkey, ground sausage, cubed ham, etc.)
- 1lb lentils
- 28-ounce crushed tomato
- 1 small can tomato paste
- 3 bay leaves
- 1 tsp Cumin
- dash Cinnamon
- 2 dashes Cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp Dried thyme
- 7 cups broth*
Directions:
In a pot, sauté onion in olive oil until translucent.
Then, add the meat and cook until done.
Once the meat is cooked thoroughly, add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
When the mixture has come to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 45 mins to 1 hour (or until liquid is reduced and beans are cooked).
*Broth should be dependent on meat. Chicken or turkey use chicken broth, any type of red meat use beef broth, no meat use vegetable broth.
